The story describes Wall Street tycoon Kabi's intention to expand his factory to residential areas in order to make money, but it is strongly opposed by the van der Hoff family there. Members of the Fan family are all eccentric, and their second daughter, Alice, works as a secretary in Kabi's company and falls in love with Kabi's son Tony, which causes Kabi's dissatisfaction. The dispute between the two sides was finally mediated by a respected grandfather, and Kabi became a philanthropist. Adapted from a Broadway play that won the Pulitzer Prize, it uses comedy to promote the theme of new good neighborliness, so that ordinary Americans who were hit by the economic downturn in the 1930s felt interpersonal tenderness and hope for life. as a result, this film, which is full of Lotte ideas, won the Best Picture Award at the Academy Award of that year. Director Frank Capra used his usual satirical and entertaining approach to portray the subtle conflicts of human sentiments, and Lionel Barrymore, Jean Arthur, James Stewart and others were also successful.
