Young Plato (2021)

Ardoyne, a community in Belfast, Ireland, where serious conflict broke out in 2001, is now a marginalized working-class community, where people have been plagued by poverty, partisanship, drugs and guns for generations. With the dream of ending violence, Kevin McArevey, the headmaster of a Catholic boys' school, and his dedicated and visionary school team subversely introduce philosophy into the primary school classroom, using critical thinking and care to lead students to question war and violence, encourage children to transcend the boundaries and limitations of their own communities, and even challenge the narratives of their parents, peers and social groups.
