Poland in the early 1990s is waiting for a new future after the collapse of the communist regime, and four women whose age spectrum spans decades are also about to encounter upheaval in their lives. A housewife trapped in a boring marriage accidentally falls in love with a priest who falls in love with a church; a rigorous and capable primary school principal suffers from an unromantic relationship; a young and beautiful dance instructor does not want to continue to wither lonely in a long-distance love; a literature teacher over 50 years old who devoted his whole life to education but suddenly lost his job. Their problems are different, but their destinies are closely linked. Inheriting the mantle of Polish film masters such as Andre Huaida and Guztov Chislawski, this film has a delicate and strong image style similar to "Sister Ida". The young director Thomas Vasilewski accurately mastered the introverted lens and cold tone, perfectly integrated the life tragedies of four women, continued the excellent characteristics made in Poland, and integrated historical relics, social unrest and religious reflection. Reflected in a very dramatic personal story, he won the Silver Bear award for best screenplay at the 66th Berlin Film Festival in 2016.
