After the penniless singer Sam found out that he had AIDS, he drank all day long to drown his sorrows, but soon fell madly in love. In the dilapidated environment of the former East Germany, he wanted to build a "family" for the millennium and for young people infected with AIDS. His "family" includes ex-boyfriend Rainer, his close friend Bastl and his sexual partner Mike. These various "comrades" bring out a sweet and tear-jerking tragic story full of nostalgia from Eastern Europe.
