The story takes place in the distant future, when human exploration of space has reached a mature stage. Mel (Nathan Fillion Nathan Fillion) is the captain of the spaceship Serenity. Every day, Mel drives his "home" through the vast universe. Serenity has nine passengers, who have very different status and personalities, each of whom has a dark past, and they left land and boarded serenity for different reasons. The only thing the nine have in common is that they are all "thorns" in the earthly world. In order to make ends meet, Serenity accepts all profitable tasks, some of which do not seem so legal, while Captain Mayer leads his crew to try to escape from the federal government.
