On the eve of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Porter led a team of special forces to take part in the hostage rescue operation. He could not bear to let go of the local child soldiers with guns. As a result, his partner in the same team was killed, and even he and Carlinson were injured and suffered heavy losses. Seven years later, Porter was able to return to the battlefield to make amends.
