A Promise (2013)

This work, adapted from Zweig's novel yesterday's Journey, tells a love story that spans before and after World War I. The promising young Friedrich Zeitz (Richard Madden) is highly regarded by the steel mill owner, Mr. Hoffmeister (Alan Rickman), and meets Mr. Hoffmeister's elegant and beautiful wife Lott (Rebecca Hall). And became the boss's son's tutor. For health reasons and work needs, Mr. Hoffmeister let Friedrich live in his mansion, and Friedrich and Lott fell in love with each other on a daily basis. However, one is about to go to another country because of his career, and the other holds his own responsibility because of family marriage. Even if he is in love, he cannot stay with each other. After the separation, the two kept correspondence, but lost contact with each other because of the outbreak of the war. After the armistice, things have changed. Can the two people who made the oath come together happily? The film has accurate lens, exquisite picture and meaningful narrative style. in the emotional context of the story, the protagonist's introverted and moving emotion is revealed everywhere.
