A Spell to Ward Off the Darkness (2013)

From the re-actors of the pagans to the failed communes, to the ferrous metal festivals of Arctic hermits, to the permanent prime time of the aurora borealis, the spell of dispelling darkness is an exploration of the possibility of spiritual existence in an increasingly secular Western culture. In the best sense, a kind of participatory ethnography, which organizes the behavior of non-actors into the existing Scandinavian landscape in an effort to reach a mixed document of the past, present and future; it is a record of experience. it proposes to believe that transcendence is a viable result of living in the present.
