América (2018)

The film is wrapped in tenderness, with kissing and touching scenes, showing sincere affection and sensitive heart. Diego and his two brothers returned to the western Mexican city of Colima to take care of their 93-year-old grandmother. The old woman, Amelika, was old and dizzy. But there is still a warm smile. The three brothers send her to bed at night, tuck her in, wait for her to get up and dress in the morning, take care of her at noon, care for her, and revolve around her. Their father is in prison, the family is strapped for money, but there is no end to the work to be done. However, human dignity cannot be trampled on, and there is no doubt about their sense of responsibility. No matter how much money, time and effort they put in, the brothers Diegor, Rodrigo and Bruno would not send their grandmother to a nursing home. To this end, they even do not hesitate to fight with others. The director followed the family for three years and made his debut with an intimate film, which was shortlisted for the international screening unit of the 2018 Leipzig International documentary and Animation Film Festival.
