American: The Bill Hicks Story (2009)

Bill Hicks is a well-known comedy star in America. The documentary includes real footage, as well as thousands of photos of Bill Hicks, documenting his childhood in his hometown of Houston, his journey to Britain after becoming famous, and his career as an American comedian. Unlike other documentaries in memory of the dead, the film does not set the tone too heavily, but is interspersed with a lot of Bill Hicks cartoon and animation clips, adding a lot of humor to the film. it is also more in line with Bill Hicks's identity as a "master comedian". The film, which was co-produced by British directors Matt Harlock and Paul Thomas, took three years to shoot and won the Texas record Man Award at the Dallas International Film Festival.
