The first large-scale documentary to explore the nursing crisis of patients with severe mental illness. The film, set in Los Angeles, tells the painful story of mentally ill people entangled by endless merry-go-round with ineffective care, revealing the anatomy of a broken medical factory. The system, once based on long-term sheltered care, has basically become a crude horror show for the thousands of people detained, medicated and thrown into the streets unable to recover. There, petty crimes and drug addiction put many people in prison, where they were again detained and medicated, creating a tragic cycle. As one psychiatrist points out, this government-approved cycle is the true definition of insanity. In addition, few psychiatrists are willing to treat those who suffer the most, and you have a full-blown crisis, which is the main cause of homelessness and imprisonment.
