Abbeto (Claudio Bisio Claudio Bizio) worked in the town post office all his life. Because of this job, the relationship between him and his wife Sylvia (Angela Finocchiaro Angela Finocchiaro) was very tense. Sylvia hoped that Aberto would try harder to be transferred to the big city Milan, but Aberto's efforts seemed to be counterproductive. Not only did he not be promoted. He was also devalued and transferred to a branch office in the remote south. As a northerner, it would be a terrible thing for Aberto to live in the south, but he soon found that the residents of his small town were very friendly and kind. He even made friends here with Matia (Alessandro Hiani Alessandro Siani), and his wife knew nothing about it.
