Black Books (2000 - 2004)
Bernard Black (Dylan Moran Dylan Moran) is the most ridiculous bookstore owner in London. His bookstore is messy, his business hours are arbitrary, and his financial situation is in a mess. Bernard himself is dishevelled, addicted to smoking and drinking, and bad-tempered. He drives customers away with loudspeakers and brooms when he wants to close, and refuses to sell out books because he is too lazy to order books. Fran (Tamsin Greg Tamsin Greig), the female owner of the gift shop next door to the bookstore, often comes to help Bernard look after the store and is Bernard's only friend. She likes to collect all kinds of strange things and her love life is in a mess. One day Bernard's accountant escaped. Bernard, who doesn't have an accountant, freaks out and meets Manny (Bill Bailey Bill Bailey) when he collapses. Manny was meek and patient and was welcomed by Fran and his customers. Bernard reluctantly hired Manny under Fran's pressure, and there has been a hilarious absurdity in Blake's bookstore every day. The play has three seasons and starring Dylan Moran is also a screenwriter.
