The documentary was filmed by Wendes, the famous director of Paris, Texas, and under the Dome of Berlin, based on a trip to Cuba by his music partner Ledku. Ledku found a touching story behind a local band during his trip, and at his urging, Wen Wendes led a photography crew to Cuba in 1988 to begin the famous shooting. He made the film in a documentary way, so this group of Cuban artists, who had long been forgotten and neglected, were mentioned again with the hit sale of the film and the release of the album CD. The world seems to wake up from its sleep, see and hear Cuba again, and understand the moving charm of Cuban music. This group of Cuban musicians crossed the political fence with music and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York as an exception. After the performance, the participants stood up and applauded, which moved the old musicians to tears. Afterwards, when they tried to call Cuba to announce the good news in the United States, they could not get through. It turned out that the two countries had no diplomatic relations. Their innocence and loveliness are vividly captured by Wendes. Once the film was published, it was affirmed by the vast majority of people, especially in international film festivals, won a total of 13 best documentary awards, including the European Film Festival, the Golden Globe Award.
