Crime + Punishment (2018)

The film takes four years to document the law enforcement process of the New York Police Department from the perspective of a group of black and Hispanic police officers named "NYPD12" against the background of a sensational class action against illegal police quotas. These officers took great risks to expose police misconduct, such as racial discrimination in law enforcement, retaliation and corruption embedded in the police system. These minority police officers had been punished for failing to meet the required arrest quota in minority communities, so they secretly gathered together, decided to record the harassment and launched a sensational class action lawsuit. When no one complained, NYPD12 used recordings of conversations between officers and police officers, original bills and moving testimony to reveal the truth to the world. Meanwhile, Manuel Gomez, a former police officer who has turned private investigator, is also collecting testimony from young ethnic minorities who have been harassed by police in the name of fighting crime.
