D'Alva, a 12-year-old girl, was tightly controlled by her pedophile father and shaped into a Barbie doll from an early age. She also thought of herself as a woman and fell in love with her father until her father was arrested. This film is the debut of French director Emmanuel Nicole, who challenges an extremely difficult moral theme, using restrained and clear lens language to point to serious and sharp social problems. The camera closely follows the protagonist D'Alva, recording her arduous process from a molded mature woman to a young girl through self-awakening and slow learning. Zelda Samson, the newcomer who plays D'Alva, won the New Star Award of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival critics week for her strong performance, and the film also won the parallel Unit Phoebe West Film critics Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
