The prototype of this film is a book of the same name, which quotes a large number of manuscripts of letters between the United States and Vietnam written by soldiers involved in the war. While reading the letters, some newsreels, family videos and still photos are displayed in front of people one by one, set off by the music of the time and the special background of the times. In this nearly two-hour film, many passages are recited by famous actors. The film was co-produced by co-producer Bill Keturi, who won an Emmy for "Vietnam Requiem" and "Vietnam Veterans Choir."
