Der geteilte Himmel (1964)

The object of the adaptation is Christa Wolf, a famous East German female writer who has been monitored for a long time because of her bold words. The story is set in the late 1950s, when the heroine Rita was sent to work in a tram factory soon after graduation to learn about working life. There, she fell in love with a chemist ten years older than her. It's a pity that love doesn't last long, and her boyfriend decides to go to West Berlin because of career frustration, which puts Rita in a dilemma. Wesf uses the avant-garde stream of consciousness to tell Rita's experience in flashback, in order to boldly criticize the concept and practice of communism, so this film is known as "the first work showing the awakening of East Germany".
