Destry Rides Again (1939)

Kent, the head of Battle Lecter in the western United States, fell into the control of town patrols because of a cheating card game, and a man named Sherif Kog was killed. The mayor of the city conspired with Kent to throw the town into chaos for his own benefit, and they arranged for a man from Tisdale, Washington, as the new sheriff, who they thought was easy to control. But they did not know that Tisdale turned out to be the agent of Tom Destley, a famous prosecutor, who had great power and was able to arrange for more powerful men to be his deputy. Kent and the mayor did not think of this. Although they tried to control the development of the whole situation through various careful plans, they failed in the end, and their conspiracies and crimes came to light.
