Eat Your Catfish (2021)

Catherine, a New Yorker, suffers from fatal ALS and is completely paralyzed. She can only communicate by pointing letters with her eyes on a special keyboard and requires 24 hours of care. Catherine expresses this terrible situation in incisive and pragmatic film language. She says the only reason she hasn't chosen euthanasia is that she's not ready to say goodbye to her children. Catherine hopes to at least attend her daughter Minu's wedding. Eating your Catfish presents almost all of Catherine's perspective: there is no crew, only cameras fixed behind her wheelchair. Directors Adam Eisenberg, Senem Tucson and Noah Alciomand (Catherine's son) have sorted out a cruel and honest portrait of Catherine from more than 900 hours of recording. ALS not only destroyed Catherine's muscles, but also put heavy pressure on her marriage: her husband was unable to take care of her and professional paramedics worked hard. Although Catherine was helpless, she showed her critical and humorous spirit.
