Elana (Ingrid Bergman Ingrid Bergman) marries the Polish prince, who knows the prince was killed in an accident. In order to maintain her present life, Elana came to Paris, hoping to find herself a "job" in high society. By chance, Elana meets Earl Henry (Mel Mel Ferrer) and General Roland (Malay Jean Marais). Roland's fiery revolutionary will and firm revolutionary faith open the door to a new world for Elana. She is deeply moved by the general's persistence and passion. General Roland's strong appeal and growing popularity made the government worried. They assigned Roland to a remote town, and Elana and Henry followed. Elana and Henry decided to help General Roland regain his freedom, and in the process, there was a real relationship between the two who didn't like each other.
