Xiulian (Michelle Yeoh), a 55-year-old Chinese-American immigrant, collapses in her family career. On the old father's birthday, in addition to preventing his daughter (Stephanie Xu) from coming out of the cupboard and wiping her ass for her useless husband (Guan Jiwei), he also had to go to the Inland Revenue Bureau to explain the bad tax problems to the stodgy aunt (Jamie Lee Curtis).
