Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan) lives in Oakland with his girlfriend Sophina (Melonie Diaz Melonie Diaz) and his four-year-old daughter. December 31, 2008, is Oscar's mother's birthday. In the morning, he sent his daughter to kindergarten and his girlfriend to work as usual. Oscar sold marijuana, went to prison and was fired because he was often late, but he is ready to start a new life as the new year arrives. In the evening, everyone gathered together to celebrate his mother's birthday and the arrival of the New year. After a party with his family, Oscar took Sophina and a group of friends and took the subway to San Francisco to see the fireworks. On January 1, 2009, the first morning of the New year, after partying all night, they took the subway home, but Oscar met an "old friend" who had spent time in prison together on the subway. His appearance changed everyone. This film is based on a true story.
