Goodnight, Mister Tom (1999)

Adapted from the British writer Michelle Magorian's novel of the same name, has won the Guardian Children's novel Award. Tom is a strange, irascible old man living alone, living in a small town like a self-exile, and no one knows about his past. William, an 11-year-old boy, took refuge in a small town to escape the flames of World War II. The horrific experience of London being bombed by air raids made William silent and sad. These two people whose ages are half a century apart and their personalities are poles apart met unexpectedly, and unexpectedly developed the true feelings like those of their ancestors and grandchildren.
