BBC and FX will work together to create a version of Great expectations. Steven Knight ("Bath the Mafia") runs the script, with Redley Scott and Tom Hardy as executive producers for six episodes. The play is adapted from Charles Dickens' classic novel of the same name and is set from Christmas Eve in 1812 to the winter of 1840. The protagonist orphan Pip narrates the three stages of life from the age of 7 in an autobiographical way.
