Gyakkyô burai Kaiji (2007 - 2011)
The story begins with a gambling boat in the dark. The hero, Kaiji Ito, is in a daze and accomplishes nothing, saddled with millions of debts because he is kind enough to guarantee others. In order to repay the debt, Kaiji was encouraged to board a ferry called the ship of Hope in order to take part in a mysterious bet that could be written off once won. After getting on the thief ship, Kaiji found that most of the participants were young losers like themselves. Then the organizers issued the rules of the bet: participants must use poker marked "stone, scissors, paper" as props to seize the star mark on their opponents. At the end of the game, those who have not run out of playing cards or have less than three stars will be disqualified, and the huge amount of money that can be borrowed from the organizers at the beginning of the competition has also become an important factor for them to make a profit or escape.
