In the 34th year of Meiji (1901), the international situation was surging and the Russo-Japanese War was just around the corner. In order to cope with the difficult environment of fighting in the cold zone, the senior level of the Japanese army decided to conduct an exercise and set the venue for the exercise in the towering, steep, cold and cold Bachia Tian Shan. The exercise team is divided into two teams, led by Lieutenant Tokushima (played by Gao Hanjian) of Hongqian 31st Company and Lieutenant Kanda (also acted the role of Peking University Lu Xin) of Aomori 5th Company. Tokushima has a wealth of experience in the snow field marching, he and Kanda carefully studied the march route, and agreed to rendezvous at the destination. However, Shaosuo Yamada (Liantaro of the three Kingdoms), the supreme commander of Kanda, is bent on defeating friendly forces, not only expanding the number of marchers without authorization, but also rudely disrupting the established plan. His predilection led the 5th company to the path of death. This film is based on Jiro Shinda's novel "Hachia Tian Shan's death at a loss".
