High School (1968)

Wiseman's second documentary, High School (1968), records the teacher-student interaction at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, reflecting the power operation mode of modern educational institutions through independent scenes such as parent discussions, sex education lectures, classroom discussions and educational discipline. With the direct film technique, especially a large number of local close-ups as the sociological test, the seemingly disorderly editing actually achieves the narrative progress through the juxtaposition of independent scenes, thus deepening the influence of the disadvantages of educational power means in space and time dimension.
