The film is based on an autobiographical novel written by director and screenwriter Shamim Salver. Lisa Rui, one of the supporting actresses, is an Indian model and film actress, and her previous film Water has been nominated for an Oscar. In traditional Middle Eastern society, Reema and Omar are planning a wedding for their daughter Tala (Lisa Leigh Lisa Ray). Tala, who works in London, met Leyla through his friend Ali (played by Sidoses Sheetal Sheth). Leyla is trying to become a writer, simple, clumsy and sensitive, all of which have attracted the attention of Tala.
