Adapted from a real story, this film tells the cat-and-mouse game between Scottish detective William Muncie and serial killer Peter Manuel in the 1940s and 1950s. Peter Manuel was jailed by Detective Muncie for burglary and sexual assault. Nine years later, Manuel went on a crime spree when he got out of prison, while Muncie began to receive handwritten cards from him. Muncie vowed to capture Manuel.
