In the Name of the Father (1993)

This is a true story. Gary (Daniel Day-Lewis Daniel Day Lewis) lives in war-torn Northern Ireland when the IRA was working against British colonial rule. Young Gary did nothing all day, sneaking around and inadvertently offending the Republican Army of Northern Ireland. In desperation, his father (Peter Bolthwaite Pete Postlethwaite) can only send him to England to enter the world. Unexpectedly, Gary, who had just arrived in Britain, was stigmatized as a terrorist of the Republican Army of Northern Ireland by the local police who were eager to perform meritorious service, and his aunt and her family in Britain were sent to prison as terrorists. His father went around complaining and ended up in prison. Father and son suffered a lot in prison. It was not until many years later that a British female lawyer began to investigate this extremely absurd case from scratch. Can this miscarriage of justice be rehabilitated in the end, and can father and son see life again?
