Nikolai (Tony Servelo Toni Servillo) lives in a small house with a family of six. In addition to his wife and two children, Nikolai lives with his parents. The whole family lived on Nikolai's income from the sale of ships, and although life was a little hard, it was a kind of happiness for the family to be happy together. Accident happened, one day, Nikolai's youngest daughter Serenella (Alicia Zamiti Alessia Zammitti) was hit by a stray bullet at the seaside, died, grief, Nikolai learned that he will receive a valuable mafia victim compensation. Before the compensation was received, the Nikolai family had begun to figure out how to spend it, and not only that, they decided to spend the money in advance, borrowed money and even owed usury.
