After the waves of the "New Wave of French Cinema" receded, Godard, then 63-year-old film master, was at his home in Switzerland and began to reflect on his place in film history and the mutual role between the film industry and film art. He does not want to mention the past, but looks at the present and the future, blurring the line between documentary and fiction, juxtaposing the vast winter landscape and the dark office to build a surging inner world; under his soft whisper, he is immersed in the scene. Wandering in his deep thinking, the difference between cultural conservatism and artistic innovation emerges. The film wrote the names of masters such as Rossellini, Nicholas Ray, Chaplin, etc. many times, which not only reflected that he was paying tribute to the filmmakers, but also asked himself where to go, thus writing an epitaph for himself in advance.
