Kasaba (1997)

From the perspective of two children and with the change of seasons as a clue, this film tells a family story set in a small town in Turkey in four paragraphs. The first paragraph of the story shows a family whose 11-year-old daughter is at the age of primary school. She is not used to facing the ruthless social reality and the cruel harm caused by life, but she must learn to adapt. The second paragraph took place in the spring, when the girl and his younger brother, four years younger, went to the cornfield, where their families were waiting for them. As they walked through the cornfield, they seemed to realize the mystery of nature and wilderness. In the third paragraph, the brother and sister witness the complexity and darkness of the adult world. The last paragraph takes place at home, where dreams and reality are calmly intertwined. Based on the director's personal recollection and confession, supplemented by a large number of natural scenes and fixed shots, we can see that Ceylon's iconic directing style has begun to take shape. Due to an indelible and painful experience in the past, an old couple has been separated for a long time. After years of absence, they finally met again one day and planned to talk openly in the hope that time could mend the emotional rift. But the conversation, which was supposed to make up for the pain, did not go on as they had expected.
