L'image manquante (2013)

We always think that we have seen and thought of all the pictures in the world. For years, I have been looking for missing images. This is a picture taken between 1975 and 1979 by the Khmer Rouge during its rule in Cambodia. This photo does not prove the tyranny of the Khmer Rouge, but it is enough to make people think, reflect and restore the truth of history. I searched for nothing in the archives, certificates and promotional materials of my motherland. Now that I know that there is a reason for the lack of this photo, I stopped looking for it. Is this picture obscene and meaningless? I decided to make a picture by myself. What I show you today is not a picture, but a film to record the process of the investigation. Some pictures are supposed to be missing and replaced by others; there are life, struggle, pain, beauty, sadness of vanishing faces, understanding of historical events; sometimes even grace and courage: but never forgotten.
