Set in S ã o Paulo, the capital of troubled times, Linha de Passe tracks the daily lives of four half-brothers and single mothers at the bottom of society, reflecting many problems in Brazil's real society: religion, violence, crime, racial discrimination, single-parent families. The film tells the story of the helplessness and despair brought to people by this poor country, and describes the unwilling but powerless struggle of the poor and the hardship of survival. The film is about the hard life of a working family in the football kingdom of Brazil. The central character is a single mother who is middle-aged, has four sons and one is about to be born. Three sons are approaching adulthood. The eldest son, Dario (de Olivera de Oliveira, who starred in Grand Central Station), has a talent for football and is facing a critical turning point in his life. But he has reached the age of 18 and is thought to have started too late and has little prospect of training. Dennis (Badsney Baldasserini) is a prodigal, adorable man with a girlfriend and a baby boy.
