The story takes place in Paris, the capital of France at the end of the 18th century. Jeanne, a young and beautiful apprentice, met and fell in love with the Spanish minister Don Diego by chance. Jeanne's boyfriend Armand stabbed Diego to death in anger and was sent to prison. After that, Jeanne became the mistress of count Dubari and King Louis XV, and asked the king to pardon Armand. After getting out of prison, Armand participated in the revolution, and finally the revolutionary masses washed out the regime and sent Jeanne to the revolutionary court to stand trial. Armand was executed for trying to save Jeanne, who was later sent to the guillotine.
