Rudolph (Omar Sharif Omar Sharif) is a noble prince who lives under the autocratic rule of his father Joseph I (James Mason James Mason). Under his father's persecution, he even marries a woman he doesn't love at all. In order to relieve the anger in his heart, Rudolph took a stroll in the sub-market and met a beautiful girl named Mary (Catherine Deneuve Catherine Deneuve).
