During the Vietnam War, Colonel Baroque and several of his brothers failed on a mission and became captives of the Viet Cong, whom the US government regarded as "missing US troops". In the camp, the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Colonel Young, repeatedly abused prisoners of war by brutal means, violated the Geneva Conventions, and forced Baroque to sign documents to admit the crime of aggression against Vietnam. Seeing his brothers killed one by one, he was determined to fight back and escaped from the prisoner-of-war camp after a narrow escape.
