This film is adapted from the autobiographical novel of the late talented Irish writer and painter Christie Brown. Kitty (Daniel Day-Lewis Daniel Day-Lewis) is born with cerebral palsy and physical disability, and only his left foot is as flexible as a normal person. He does not have the ability to take care of himself, which brings a great burden to the family. When he was young, he was always ridiculed by the children around him. His father almost gave him up, while his mother (Brenda Frick Brenda Fricker) always took good care of him. Kitty was mentally depressed but could not be expressed in words. He tried to write and paint with his left foot. Gradually, by virtue of perseverance and wisdom, Kitty became more and more recognized. His mother quietly bought a wheelchair for Kitty, and then he got free help from Dr. Elaine. Under the guidance of Elaine's exercise, Kitty's body began to improve. By this time Kitty had fallen in love with Elaine. One day Elaine recommended Kitty's paintings to a friend's gallery for display. After the end, Kitty expressed her love to Elaine, but she refused.
