Wu Hongyan (Liu Dan) is an ordinary bailiff in Pingchuan people's Court in western China. Her husband died of illness, single for ten years, her life is bleak and tasteless, doing routine work every day, showing evidence in court, verdict and sending away desperate people one by one. For her, maybe only by going to Xingcheng marriage agency every week can there be a glimmer of hope in life, but happiness passes her by again and again. A female criminal was sentenced to death for deliberately killing her, and Wu Hongyan was her farewell. The husband of the female criminal, Li Jun (Qidao), therefore hates this silent policewoman and often follows him, waiting for an opportunity to assassinate him. However, the knife that has not been stained with blood is left behind, but the two lonely hearts come together. This film won the New Director and New Film Award of the 23rd Warsaw International Film Festival in 2007.
