On February 4, 1974, the terrorist group symbiotic Liberation Army kidnapped Patty Hearst, 19, the granddaughter of American newspaper magnate William Dolph Hearst, from her fiance's apartment. Patty Hearst and fiance Steve Wade were attacked by three masked men in an apartment in Berkeley, California. Steve was tied to the ground and three kidnappers hijacked Patty away. During the kidnapping, the terrorists belittled what she used to think was beautiful and precious, and in Patricia's mind, one thought seemed to be replaced by another dangerous thought. Later, the terrorists asked her to choose whether to go home or join their organization. Patricia chose to join the terrorist organization because she thought the terrorists might not be able to get her out alive. Since then, she has participated in a series of terrorist acts of the symbiotic Liberation Army under the pseudonym "Tanya": she attacked and robbed the Hebonia savings Bank in San Francisco, was hunted while robbing a sports equipment store, and returned to San Francisco to engage in a new armed robbery after hiding from Pennsylvania. Soon, differences broke out between Tanya and the symbiotic Liberation Army. In September 1975, Patty was confederated.
