Rafe (Ben Everett) and Danny (Josh Hartnett) are good brothers who have played together since childhood. They both have a great interest in flying, have learned to fly together, and joined the United States Air Force at the beginning of World War II. During the training, Rafe fell in love with Evelyn (Kate Beckinsell), a female nurse in the military hospital. In order to help European countries resist Nazi German aggression, the US military decided to send elite troops to the European continent. Rafe volunteered to take part in the war and entrusted Evelyn to Danny's care. Soon after, the bad news came. Rafe's plane was unfortunately shot down by the Germans in air combat, and its survival may be almost zero. Evelyn and Danny fall in love in the pain of mutual encouragement. To their surprise, Rafe did not die, and when the three were reunited, they were embarrassed. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor helped them out, and Rafe and Danny decided not to be romantic rivals.
