The film focuses on Spitter's experience after being charged with murder in 2003: on February 3 that year, he met Lana Clarkson, a waitress at a nightclub on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. The two later returned to Phil Spector's mansion in Alhambra, a suburb of Los Angeles. Unexpectedly, gunshots were heard indoors in the early hours of the morning, and when the police arrived, Clarkson, who had been shot in the mouth, was dead. Phil Spector later claimed in court that Clarkson shot himself. After a lengthy six-year trial and a jury hearing the testimony of several prosecution witnesses, including pointing out that Phil Spector had threatened the woman with a gun and examining the relevant evidence, he was finally convicted of second-degree murder.
