Adapted from a household legend in Norway, the film cost about 4 million euros and produced more than 100 sets of CG scenes. It was first written into a stage play in 1924, followed by a long-lasting performance, and then the first film was made in 1976. The protagonist of the story is Sanya, a 14-year-old girl who happened to learn in the city that Princess Grutta, the king's daughter, had disappeared in the search for the Christmas Star. The star disappeared because of the king's curse, and the king had to find it before Christmas before Princess Grutta could return to the world. Sonya is determined to help the king find Christmas Star and Princess Grutta.
