Set in England in 1952, Nigel, the Earl of Mashwood, attracts Hollywood star Miranda Freel, making his mother, Countess Felicity, the Countess of Mashwood, and her former lover, fellow Hollywood compatriots, uneasy. The countess's personal maid and best friend discovered that Miranda was her estranged sister just before the engagement party in Marshwood, Moxie. The countess's housekeeper, Creswelle, quickly worked out a plan, but an angry Lucas arrived at Mashwood to try to talk to Miranda, and all the confusion was gone.
