Director Raymond Depardon was born in 1942 into a peasant family near Lyon. He came to Paris alone in 1958. He started as a fellow in a photo agency and gradually became a famous photographer in France and even in the world. In 1963, a camera lent to him by a friend gave him a chance to realize his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
