Ricky (Meryl Streep Meryl Streep) when she was young, in order to pursue her dream, she abandoned her family and went to California to develop a rock singing career. Years later, the eldest daughter Julie (McGumer Mamie Gummer) suffered a marriage change, and her second son Joshua (Sebastian Sebastian Stan) was about to get married. Ricky finally came home at the invitation of her ex-husband, when she found that she wanted to be a good mother again. Once again, in the face of the choice between dream and family, can Ricky rebuild the estranged parent-child relationship?
