The story takes place during the Korean War, when Air Force Major Lloyd (Marlon Brando Marlon Brando) wins the trust and love of the general and has a bright future. Lloyd was sent to Japan, where he met a Japanese chief dancer named Anon (Takayimiko). The exotic amorous feelings of Anon attracted Lloyd's attention, and he fell in love uncontrollably. However, the policy at that time forbade American soldiers to fall in love and intermarry with the Japanese, so both Lloyd and Arnon suppressed this feeling deeply from the bottom of their hearts. Kelly (Ryder Button Red Buttons) is a subordinate of Lloyd, and his experience is similar to that of his boss. He also falls in love with a Japanese woman. However, Kelly and Lloyd choose differently. He would rather sacrifice his life than be loyal to his lover. Kelly's death left Lloyd thinking deeply.
