Liz and Benny were both born into a family of people of color. At a literary party, Liz met Tony, a handsome white intellectual youth. With a frivolous enthusiasm, Lizzie abandoned her original suitor, threw herself into Tony's arms and had sex with Tony. But Tony felt disgust when he found out that Lizzie was not white, especially when he saw Lizzie's dark-skinned, thick-lipped eldest brother. Liz suffered for a while, and finally, the pursuit of a black youth pulled her out of the abyss. Benny, Liz's second brother, was rebellious by nature and always wandered the streets with three or two friends. Although he was not white, he sometimes hated the vulgarity of blacks. He seemed to be detached from the problems between races while walking along the street. but inevitably decadent.
